Synopsis

Nominated for 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical!

Shrek The Musical is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek!, as well as the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the popular movie series. It features book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, and music by Jeanine Tesori. Jason Moore directs, with choreography by Josh Prince.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre -- not a handsome prince -- shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

The cast includes stars Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James as Shrek, Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Princess Fiona, Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber as Lord Farquaad, Tony Award nominee Daniel Breaker as Donkey and Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia as Pinocchio.

Each day, two hours prior to show time (12:00 p.m. for 2:00 p.m. matinees; 1:00 p.m. for 3:00 p.m. matinees; 5:00 p.m. for 7:00 PM performances; 6:00 p.m. for 8:00 p.m. performances), people who present themselves at the Broadway Theatre box office will have their names placed in a raffle drum. Thirty minutes later, names will be drawn at random for 16 seats at $26.50 each. Winners must be present in order to win and this lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of 2 tickets per person. Winners must provide photo ID at the time of purchase. Only one entry is allowed per person.

Review: Full of laughs by darwin.moore

Fun, fun, fun. This reminded us a lot of Young Frankenstein; we laughed and laughed. Fun costumes and the silly characters from the movie come to life. Its worth the price of admission just to see all the things they do with Farquaad sp?, who is played by an actor on his knees. We loved Daniel Breaker as Donkey, and Sutton Foster would be fabulous reading the phone book. She has a highlight number at the start of act two that is worth the price of admission. If you are a fan of the Shrek movies, youll love it. If you think they are silly, then stay home, because you aint seen nothing yet.

Review: RE: Shrek The Musical by loyr2662

A fun show for both kids and adults. The show takes many of the entertaining scenes from the film and brings them to the theater, plus a few extra surprises that make for a fun night out.
