Got to see it in New York on a trip with my friend. This show brought wonderful childhood memories of the Julie Andrews movie back to life for me. Lovely show - worth the cash!

So, were fans of Hair, Spring Awakening and Passing Strange, to show how our tastes run. But, we are also diehard Disney fans. This interpretation of the story is far darker than the movie, and not exactly riveting. But, all the singing is excellent, there are some good production numbers, and Disney rocks the production. More than anything, this is Disney at its best --- with over the top production values. The set is wonderfully elaborate and there are more and better special effects than Ive seen in a long time. We started out stitting on our hands, but they had us by the end. Beauty was a far better story, but Mary is a far better production.
